The ICC focuses on research and development of leading-edge technologies with the goal to meet the future mobility needs of the Volkswagen Group customer. The ICC also works to test and validate North American vehicle systems to improve and localize those products for the market.
The Jr. Transportation Designer - An active contributor to a conceptual project, through strategic research and thinking, needs to help create concepts and illustrate a user story including vehicle/vehicles design. Identify needed existing/future technologies to facilitate and complement the concept.
The Jr. Transportation Designer will need to support in creating digital/physical representation. This output will be presented to internal ICC, Group Innovation and Group Design stakeholders, at Group Innovation annual Future Mobility Days internal trade show, ongoing project presentations and potentially as external promotion material for communication purposes.
Responsibilities
- Develop/create new mobility concepts and product ideas for VW Group globally and within US market based on de-coded research and analysis
- Create visual storyboards of future concepts
- Communicate with concept development and automotive design team
- Support CAD modeling team with data prep, and surface modeling
- Create, collect, develop artistic to realistic material library for use in mobility concepts
- Collaborates with engineers and specialists in other areas (UX, Mechatronics, research, modeling).
Experience Required
- 1-3 years of experience in automotive design and concept development
Education Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Automotive or Industrial Design or equivalent. Master's preferred.

- Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in creating creative content

Software Skills
- Required Software skills: Standard sketching and design tools (such as Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent, CAD tools (Alias, Blender, etc.)
