MKD Electric is seeking an experienced Jr. Staff Accountant As part of this role…

This is a new position for a fast-growing and fast-paced, mid-sized contractor/construction company (privately owned) in the Northwest Chicago area. Seeking a detailed oriented and forward-thinking individual to assist the accounting department day-to-day functions. This position will have plenty of growth opportunities.

What you will do…

• Maintaining financial records, and general ledger accounts
• Processing AP and AR entries and submitting invoicing to clients
• Account reconciliations including bank and or balance sheet
• Review overhead expense accounts for classification accuracy
• Prepare journal entries
• Assist with 10-day month-end close process
• Update weekly/monthly inventory reports
• Responding to information requests, assisting with audits

What you will need to succeed…

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or Business
• 1-2 year’s of experience using ERP software
• Basic knowledge of GAAP, Financial statements, Full cycle month end close
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment

Preferred experience…

• Construction experience is a plus
• Quickbooks experience beneficial but not required
