Job Overview
The Junior Property Accountant will primarily be responsible for recording the daily accounting for a portfolio of properties in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
- Post general ledger and journal entries.
- Maintain work papers and account analysis, including a monthly closing checklist.
- Assist with portions of property annual budgets and operating expense reimbursement.
- Assist with tenant billings.
- Prepare and process accounts receivables and payables.
- Scan physical payments and branch deposits received.
- Re-class improper GL coding and reconcile bank statements, including security deposits.
- Tie GPR to rent roll.
- Calculate management and bookkeeping fees and pilot payments.
- Connect and collect from subsidy agencies with balances.
- Track ERAP payments received.
- Cut checks when necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
- 2 years of professional accounting, preferably in real estate.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Ability to function well in a tea-oriented setting and respond well to constructive criticism.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel; experience with Yardi is a plus.
- Experience with affordable multi-family properties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments efficiently and work in a dynamic deadline-driven environment.
