Job Summary:

The Junior IT Support Specialist will provide technical assistance and support to end-users, ensuring smooth operation and optimal utilization of computer systems, software, and hardware. They will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, resolving problems, and escalating complex cases to senior team members when necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide frontline technical support to end-users via various channels (tickets, phone, email, etc) and assist them in resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions within established guidelines.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Travel to nearby office locations to perform support and installs.
  • Assist in maintaining mobile device setup and assignments.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system and software updates.
  • Assist in maintaining onsite and remote printers as well as toner inventories.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT support staff and track the progress until resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with other members of the support team to discuss recurring problems and to share solutions and best practices.
  • Assist in maintaining IT inventories, and relay when parts/orders are needed.
  • As experience increases, provide training on hardware and software use to end users.
  • Assist individuals with disabilities with the use of hardware and software, providing additional adaptive features and devices as needed.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT support.
  • Performs other related IT duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of computer software and hardware, including desktop computers, laptops, network devices, and peripherals.
  • Ability to travel to nearby locations, eligible for direct compensation reimbursement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Willingness to have telephone conversations monitored for quality assurance.
  • Willingness to learn on the job.
Education and Experience:
  • Experience in providing technical support or working in a helpdesk environment is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or similar qualifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
