If you are, you might be a good fit. This is a Junior position so no prior Data Center experience required, we want high energy and ready to perform work on large projects and not be afraid of hard work to get your foot into this growing industry! To clarify some misunderstandings, a Data Center colocation deals with all physical aspects of the facility, our customers do the IT. So our job deals with rack and stack / cabling and labeling / equipment maintenance / hardware.
We are looking to add another Datacenter Technician for our Houston facility. It is our busiest shift that sees a lot of the action at the Data Center in terms of trade partner interface, maintenance activities, and customer support. While there is additional support, you need to be high energy, knowledgeable about facilities, have great communication skills, and be quick on your feet.
The primary focus is facilities maintenance, rack and stack, and general customer support.
The work schedule is as follows: (W/Th/Fri) one week then (Tues/Wed/Th/Fri) the next week (8 PM-8 AM)
Our technicians like our 4/3 schedule -- you will get to work 4 days one week then 3 days the next (12-hour shifts) - so every other week you get a 4-day weekend!
We are looking for someone with the following traits:
-Good communication skills and willingness to provide customers with white glove Ritz Carlton-like experiences in person, by phone, and via ticket.
-Really excited to work in Data Centers
-Extremely good work ethic and passion for working
-Interest in making extra money when opportunities arise and don't mind picking extra hours
-Interest in learning about all aspects of Data Center infrastructure
-Extremely rigorous and would take pride in the visual presentation of a job well done
Day to day:
- Working with servers, electrical and mechanical components
- Security and checking in/out
- Receiving packages and moving boxes
- General facilities maintenance
- Running cross-connects
- Receiving packages and tracking inventory
- Writing procedures
- Troubleshooting hardware
