Job Description
1. JOB SUMMARY
The Buyer is responsible for coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for establishment.
2. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ FUNCTIONS
A. Determine components and associated quantities necessary for daily purchase utilizing composite pick lists, BOM, current inventory positions, minimum order quantities, purchase history and reported shortages and other ADD+ON data.
B. Release orders on blanket purchase orders/ enter new purchase orders on ADD+ON for daily requirements.
C. Analyze open purchase orders and shortages then expedite materials from suppliers as required.
D. Confers with suppliers to obtain product service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
E. Prepares purchase orders or requests.
F. Reviews supplier proposals and negotiates contract pricing.
G. Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
H. Discusses defective or non-conforming material with supplier to determine source of problem and take corrective action.
3. OTHER FUNCTIONS
A. Maintain files on current suppliers to include, Supplier Survey, MRBI reports, schedule exception data and other information necessary to establish and monitor supplier performance and assign supplier ratings.
B. Perform data entry/data management functions necessary to maintain accurate inventory and work order data on the ADD+ON system.
C. Purchase non- inventory items and equipment from approved purchase requisitions.
D. Assist in the periodic physical inventories of raw materials and finished goods.
E. Resolve supplier issues related to invoicing/ receiving discrepancies and issue debit memos when/as necessary.
F. Participate in Internal ISO audits.
G. Perform any other duties when/as assigned.
4. JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. Education:
High school diploma or GED.
B. Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a buyer. (flexible on this if candidate has a degree)
C. Skills/Characteristics Necessary to Perform Essential Functions:
1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
2. Must be detail-oriented.
3. Must have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus.
