Job Description
Under the general direction of the Estimating Team Leader, the Jr. Estimating is responsible for performing take-offs and obtaining and analyzing bids from suppliers and subcontractors. This position helps coordinate bidding, buyout, and budgets for multiple job projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and perform accurate labor and material takeoffs (both Residential & Commercial) according to DeLeers procedures.
- Maintain complete understanding and knowledge of DeLeers pricing.
- Read and review blueprints/plans and interpret them to determine trade responsibilities.
- Communicate and work effectively with multiple departments.
- Always maintain good trade partner (subcontractor) and supplier relationships.
- Monitor overall bid progress, including following up on bid invitations and buyouts.
- Work effectively as part of the Estimating Team, sharing information and assisting others.
- Participate in all department meetings and communications.
- Perform any special assignments, additional projects, or duties as may be required by the Estimating or management team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must hold or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment.
- Minimum of 5 years construction/carpentry experience.
- Ability to meet deadlines and ensure accurate takeoffs are submitted.
- Must possess strong attention to detail as well as good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read construction plans (architectural, MEP, civil drawings), documents, and specifications and comprehend what needs to be done. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, principles, and procedures of construction.
- Experience with Planswift, Bluebeam Revu, and Sage Estimating software is a plus.
- Strong math skills and understanding of engineering drawings.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as in a fast-paced team environment.
- Must possess the traits that support a collaborative environment with a "team-player" attitude.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Possess analytical, problem-solving, & critical thinking skills as well as the ability to bring imagination and creativity to challenging situations.
