The company works closely with property owners and managers to preserve the quality, safety, and appearance of commercial and residential properties throughout Southeast Wisconsin and beyond. J.R. Boehlke entered a new chapter of growth under new ownership in 2023 and now seeks to build upon the strengths of the founding team to further expand the business.
We are seeking a Cost Estimator / Project Managerto deliver accurate and timely bid proposals to our pavement maintenance customers and to serve as the primary liaison between our customers, crews, and select subcontractors. The right individual for this role will bring strong knowledge of pavement maintenance projects, take pride in providing accurate and timely information, and possess excellent people skills. The Cost Estimator / Project Manager will report to our President and partner closely with him and other members of the J.R. Boehlke team to grow and improve the business.
Job Responsibilities
The Cost Estimator / Project Manager will:
- Provide accurate bid proposals for asphalt and concrete maintenance projects, including, but not limited to, patching, sealcoating, curb repair, and crack filling
- Meet and communicate with customers to understand client needs, address questions and concerns, and recommend appropriate scope of work
- Survey client properties and provide written and verbal recommendations to clients
- Assemble scopes of work and pricing estimates for new projects and change orders
- Calculate material take off requirements and, when needed, order materials
- Act as the interface between pavement customers and the operations team for scheduling and quality control
- Design and manage processes to track job costs
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, serving as primary liaison for subcontracted work
- Work with Operations Manager, Office Manager, and others in the organization to confirm job schedules and coordinate customer communications
- Partner with President on projects and process improvements to grow the business and elevate the quality of our services
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience estimating self-performed asphalt and/or concrete projects
- High attention to detail and quality
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or schematics
- Valid Wisconsin Drivers License with good driving record
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook
