IT Field Van Driver
Long term engagement/contract
San Jose, CA & Mountain View, CA
The IT Van Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient transportation and delivery of IT hardware equipment to various locations. This role combines driving responsibilities with basic IT support functions, requiring a blend of technical skills, customer service, and logistical expertise.
Deliveries:
- The Driver makes deliveries and pick-ups from a number of offices split between the San Jose and Mountain View locations.
- They will also need to update the management tools i.e., Hardware Request Tracker and Buganizer per delivery to ensure assets are properly tracked
- The specifications of where to the delivered and when to be delivered will be notified to the Driver through On Job training.
- Detailed hands-on will be provided to the Driver
- Pick-up and delivery bins can be very heavy, so the Driver will need to be physically able to move bins upwards of 50 lbs alone.
- Lifting assistance at the delivery locations is rarely available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive company vans to transport IT hardware equipment, including computers, peripherals, and other devices, to designated locations.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of equipment according to scheduled routes or as directed by the IT team.
- Assist in the installation, setup, and configuration of IT hardware equipment at client sites or within company premises.
- Provide basic troubleshooting and technical support for hardware-related issues, including diagnosing and resolving common problems.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including equipment received, dispatched, and returned.
- Perform regular inventory checks to ensure adequate stock levels and report any discrepancies to the IT department.
- Interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders during equipment deliveries and installations.
- Address client inquiries and provide assistance in a courteous and helpful manner, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating company vehicles.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on vans to ensure they are in proper working condition.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in driving, preferably in a commercial or corporate setting (2 years +)
- Basic understanding of IT hardware components and peripherals. (1 year +)
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment safely.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Flexibility in working hours and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Hardware Support or technical roles.
Familiarity with inventory management systems.
Technical certifications related to IT Hardware Support.
