It Technician

Overview

Responsible for providing information technology maintenance and supporting for IT-related activities. Accountable for ensuring continuity of computer services for users through technical planning, central IT collaboration and project coordination. This position will have a dotted line to the Deputy CIO for IT Operations and Services for TCUS.

Responsibilities

Local expertise:

• Provide IT support to staff, teachers, and students in a friendly and timely manner
• Set up new user profiles, email accounts,
• Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely and via phone
• Maintain and repair technological equipment or peripheral devices
• Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
• Performs other duties as assigned

 

In collaboration with Touro central IT:

• Install and upgrade anti-virus and Touro-specific software to ensure user and network security
• Support project work of varying complexity and priority, overseeing all phases of projects from conception to completion and ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on time
• Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
• Interact with department and management throughout the organization to resolve escalated issues and/or provide recommendations related to business, technical, budgetary concerns
• Act in alignment with organizational policy and system functionality while meeting user needs
• Assist with upgrading information and data security
• Assist with the network administration under the guidance of TCUS networking team

 

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

• Bachelor's degree (preferred) or above in related field
• Three years' experience in computer support and maintenance
• Knowledge of networking a plus

• Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience
• Strong sense of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
