SalaryAkira Technologies is seeking a Senior IT Systems Analyst to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in the development and sustainment of shore-based ship maintenance and logistics automated information systems.
Work will be performed in Norfolk, VA.
The successful IT Systems Analyst candidate must show familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. They should show extensive experience and judgement in planning and accomplishing goals and a comprehensive grasp of job responsibilities and meet all service-level standards regarding response time and quality.
Job Duties:
- Analyzes and develops computer software possessing a wide range of capabilities, including numerous engineering, business, and records management functions.
- Develops plans for automated information systems from project inception to conclusion.
- Analyzes user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, analyze workload and computer usage, maintain interfaces with outside systems, analyze downtimes, analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades and new COTS.
- Analyzes the problem and the information to be processed. Defines the problem, and develops system requirements and program specifications, from which programmers prepare detailed flow charts, programs, and tests.
- Coordinates closely with programmers to ensure proper implementation of program and system specifications. Develops, in conjunction with functional users, system alternative solutions.
- Conducts sites surveys; assesses and documents current site network configuration and user requirements.
- Designs and optimizes network topologies.
- Analyzes existing requirements and prepares specifications for hardware/software acquisitions. Prepares engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages.
- Develops hardware/software installation schedules.
- Prepares drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
- Prepares site installation and test reports.
- Configures computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment.
- Installs network hardware/software.
- Trains site personnel in proper use of hardware/software.
- Builds specialized interconnecting cables.
- Performs first line support for service interruptions such as printer routings, power outages, wiring problems, and malfunctioning servers.
- Escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution.
- Develops, analyses, evaluates, advises on, and/or improves the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, organizations, manpower utilization, distribution of work assignments, delegations of authority, management controls, information and documentation systems, and similar functions of management.
- Responsible for formulating and enforcing work standards, assigning contractor schedules, reviewing work discrepancies, supervising contractor personnel and communicating policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to subordinates.
- Responsible for the overall contract performance and shall not serve in any other capacity under this contract.
- Formulates/defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results.
- Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
- Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- 7+ years of experience in a related field.
- Full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.
- Good understanding of the business or function for which applications are designed.
- Secret security clearance
