Job description

Summary
This position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Civil Division. Office of Management Programs (OMP), Office of information Technology (OIT). This position will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Civil Division. The incumbent will serve as the first line of defense against malicious actors in the IT industry. They will screen IT infrastructure for weaknesses and create robust countermeasures to prevent incidents.

Duties
The duties and responsibilities for an IT Specialist (Info Security), GS-2210-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serving as the authority and leader in the identification, collection, analysis, measurement, documentation, reporting, and presentation of reliable, statistical data with a focus on identifying vulnerabilities and threats, incident response, and mitigation efforts that influence the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Civil Divisions cybersecurity posture.
Initiating process improvement plans for threat analysis, incident identification, and mitigation to enhance overall IT cybersecurity program operation, as well as optimizing Civil Division technical products and services.
Engineering, implementing and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
Providing advice and assistance to Civil Division staff in the operational execution of cybersecurity defense concepts, objectives, and formulation of supporting efforts.
Designing computer security strategy and engineer comprehensive cybersecurity architecture. Configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining security infrastructure software and hardware.

You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.

Incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TS security clearance with access to SCI to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of IT Specialist (Info Security) at (GS-2210-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service performing such duties as: developing processes and tools to identify security vulnerabilities; initiating process improvement plans for threat analysis; monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems; screening critical IT infrastructure for weaknesses and creating countermeasures to prevent future events; analyzing security systems and seeking improvements; providing advice and assistance to staff in the execution of cybersecurity defense concepts; and providing recommendations for change to IT systems. Individuals must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
