As anIT Network Engineer, you will be responsible for planning future growth and expansion of MidSouth and service provider networks. You will also be responsible for the coordination and communicationbetween contractors and vendors, along with mitigating any network issues that may occur. This position requires flexibility for potential on call assistance outside of normal operatingbusiness hours.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an IT related field preferred.A minimum of 8 years' relevant IT Network experience required.Please Note: A combination of educationandexperience may be taken into consideration
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License:You must maintain a good driving record measured by MidSouth Electric Co-op criteria and remain insurable by our automotive insurance carrier.

- Calix and Juniper networking equipment
- Service provider DNS and DHCP
- IGPs/EGPs
- MPLS, VPLS, L2VPNs, and L3VPNs
- Switching
- Multicast Routing
- FTTX
- GPON
- XGPON
- IPv4 and IPv6
- Outside Plant
- Inside Plan (Optical Splitters, Fiber Patch Panels, etc.)
- Excellentanalytical/critical thinkingskills.
- Strong sense ofintegrity and security.
- Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills:You must communicate effectively across all areas of the company including senior leadership, by providing technical support, and collaborating with department members. This includes the ability to work effectively on a team, as well as independently.
- Flexibility, Adaptability, and Reliability:You must be ableto work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities. You must also have the ability to be on call as needed with a reliable home internet connection.
- Ability tomanage multiple activities effectively while meeting deadlines.
OurIT Network Engineer Will Spend Time:
- Designing a modern service provider network utilizing both layer 2 and layer 3 technologies.
- Evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.
- Maintaining and configuring all switches, routing protocols, and firewalls as needed to improve network performance and increase security.
- Proactively researching trends to prepare for future technological needs.
- Managing and monitoring network and system logs to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Collaborating with other team members to plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of network equipment. This includes coaching peers on network related changes and implementations.
- Assisting in the project planning for future growth and development of MidSouth.
