Overall, the IT manager plays a critical role in aligning IT initiatives with business objectives, driving innovation and efficiency, and ensuring the effective and secure operation of IT systems and services within the organization.
Role Facts:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. This involves understanding the business needs and recommending IT solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff. Ensure that team members have the necessary resources and support to perform their roles effectively.
- IT Project Management: Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This includes defining project scope, allocating resources, managing risks, and communicating with stakeholders.
- IT Infrastructure Management: Maintain and optimize IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and other hardware and software systems. Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of IT resources to meet business needs.
- IT Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and controls to protect the organization's data and systems from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and select IT vendors and service providers, negotiate contracts and service agreements, and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business needs.
- Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, including forecasting expenses, allocating resources, and tracking costs. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements while maximizing the value of IT investments.
- Technology Evaluation and Implementation: Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry, assess their potential impact on the organization, and recommend adoption or integration of new technologies to enhance business processes and outcomes.
- User Support and Training: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshoot IT issues, and ensure timely resolution of problems. Develop and deliver training programs to help users maximize their productivity and proficiency with IT systems and tools.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor IT performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze trends and patterns, and generate reports to management on the effectiveness and efficiency of IT operations. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT roles, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. Experience in management or leadership roles is required.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical expertise in areas such as networking, systems administration, and security. Proficiency with relevant tools and technologies.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project Management Skills: Experience managing IT projects, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align IT initiatives with organizational goals.
- Security Knowledge: Understanding of IT security principles using NIST based security Frameworks and best practices, with the ability to implement and enforce security policies.
- Vendor Management Experience: Experience working with IT vendors and managing vendor relationships.
