The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.
This is a paid summer college intern opportunity in our IT organization. IT interns work closely with and assist staff with various assignments. The summer intern program consists of 10+ weeks of hands-on real world experience in an career development environment. Participation in the intern program gives preference for future semesters as an intern/co-op within DRS Naval Power Systems. A typical student will participate in 2+ semesters as an intern/co-op at DRS throughout their junior and senior years.
- Support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required
- Gain understanding of IT methods, programs and practices via guidance from mentor(s), supervisor and interaction with other employees/co-workers.
- Perform other duties and assists in assigned projects.
- Establishes learning and development goals with mentor or supervisor approval.
- Current accredited college or university enrollment; making progress towards an associates or undergraduate degree in the relevant field. Grade point average of 2.8 or above.
- Understanding of current principles and practices of IT support and ability to work closely with users and other IT professionals to identify, analyze and resolve system problems
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to successfully interact with other IT professionals and end-users
- Candidates must be a US Citizen to be considered
