IT Intern (Summer 2024)

This is a paid summer college intern opportunity in our IT organization. IT interns work closely with and assist staff with various assignments.  The summer intern program consists of 10+ weeks of hands-on real world experience in an career development environment. Participation in the intern program gives preference for future semesters as an intern/co-op within DRS Naval Power Systems. A typical student will participate in 2+ semesters as an intern/co-op at DRS throughout their junior and senior years.

• Support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals.   
• Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required
• Gain understanding of IT methods, programs and practices via guidance from mentor(s), supervisor and interaction with other employees/co-workers.
• Perform other duties and assists in assigned projects.
• Establishes learning and development goals with mentor or supervisor approval.

• Current accredited college or university enrollment; making progress towards an associates or undergraduate degree in the relevant field.  Grade point average of 2.8 or above.
• Understanding of current principles and practices of IT support and ability to work closely with users and other IT professionals to identify, analyze and resolve system problems
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to successfully interact with other IT professionals and end-users
• Candidates must be a US Citizen to be considered
