Location and hours:
These positions are remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. (a minimum of 20 hours/week). These internships will start in June 2024 and will last two years in duration.
While these positions are designated as remote, hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable after the new employee successfully completes probation.

In these positions, you will:
- Assist in map creation.
- Provide data support and spatial analysis using lidar data.
- Perform aerial image processing.
Need to have:
- Current enrollment or recent graduate (within 6 months) in a master's degree program in Geographic Information System or a related field.
- Access to reliable internet access and self-support remote office space.
Nice to have:
- Experience:
- Using Esri ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and related apps) to create maps and perform spatial analysis tasks.
- With data editing, cartography, and spatial analysis
- Knowledge of cartographic principles and experience creating visually appealing maps.
- Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with project team and product end users.
- Complete project work on time.
- Collaborate around a common cause to create appropriate GIS solutions.
- Work independently at times.
