This is a paid internship position, but is not benefit eligible.
This internship performs novias skilled technical work developing Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions and managing special projects. Work is performed under the general direction of the GIS Coordinator and GIS Analysts. This is a temporary position, that is scheduled for a three or six-month duration. The position is budgeted for approximately 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience
Pursuing a bachelor's degree (or certificate) in Geographic Information System (GIS), geography, computer science, or related field. Please Note: The selected candidate must be enrolling, a current student, or a recent graduate of a bachelor's program in GIS, Geography, Urban Studies, or related field.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is also required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of, and skills in, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, or any other ESRI products; ability to use geospatial techniques to implement data standards and operational procedures to increase efficiency; knowledge of coordinate systems, map projections, spatial topology, address geocoding, and cartographic methods; ability to perform data entry into various databases; ability to be creative and analytical to conceptualize, analyze, manipulate, extract, and display geospatial data; knowledge of computer programming, scripting, model building, systems analysis, software testing, software maintenance, and software operations; knowledge of, or ability to learn, County government work flows and processes; verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide variety of audiences; reading comprehension skills sufficient to understand and interpret technical documents, records, and maps; interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships; ability to use geospatial techniques to implement data standards and operational procedures to increase efficiency.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

- Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of County-wide datasets including but not limited to NG911, Land Records, Human and Health Services, Wright County Facilities, Park & Recreation, etc.
- Assist in the development of geospatial solutions for the public, county departments, and local agencies.
- Gain an understanding of datasets used at the local government level, and the role local government plays in data creation.
- Work with existing GIS database and web portals (ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Gain an overall understanding of County operations, procedures, and current GIS initiatives for local government.
- Respond to request for maps and datasets and help support GIS end users.
