Department Overview
Reach for Resources is a nonprofit agency based out of Minnetonka, Minnesota. We provide individualized services that maximize independence, boost community engagement, and improve physical and emotional well-being to individuals of all abilities living in the Minneapolis metro area. Our recreation department offers small group and individual therapeutic services and contracts with county and city park and recreation departments to provide adaptive recreation, inclusion support, and training services to their community members.
Job Summary
Interns will work with children and adults with disabilities in a variety of recreational settings. Reach serves people of all ages and ability levels. Interns will work in both adaptive and inclusive recreation environments. Interns are a part of a diverse team and get experience in program development, facilitation, numbers reporting, hiring, intake meetings, assessments, training new hires, evaluating existing instruments, and developing one or two trainings of their choice. Enjoy a hybrid environment with in-person programs and tasks many days and occasional flexible work from home time. Expand your network by assisting at programs in a variety of different city and partner programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and implement adaptive recreation programs
· Provide resources to families
· Create trainings for other team members on topics of your choice
· Assist in creating custom inclusion plans
· Facilitate intake meetings
· Work with parks and recreation staff to provide extra assistance for children with disabilities in typical parks programming
· Teach behavior management strategies and other accommodations to city parks and rec coaching staff
· Communicate with participants, families, and staff
· Complete needed paperwork and trainings in a timely fashion
· Provide administrative assistance on an as needed basis including tasks such as processing registration, pulling rosters, editing program newsletters, purchasing supplies, delivering supplies, and more.
· Provide ongoing communication and feedback to program supervisors
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED
· Some college with coursework pertaining to Therapeutic Recreation
· Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
· Day, evening, and weekend availability
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of community inclusion
· Group leadership experience
· At least 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities
· Flexibility and adaptability
· Strong written and oral communication skills
