The Michigan Cyber Command Center (MC3) is seeking students enrolled in a post-secondary educational program that are interested in an unpaid internship with the Michigan State Police for the Spring 2024 Semester. This internship would be approximately 10-20 hours per week, with start and end dates to be determined by the requirements of the selected individual's educational institution.
The MC3 primarily investigates network intrusions impacting Michigan businesses and governmental entities. These investigations include ransomware, phishing, business email compromises, malicious insider threats, and other network intrusion/compromise related incidents. The MC3 assists other law enforcement agencies with forensics for similar investigations. MC3 also helps with the collection of evidence for criminal prosecution and can provide expertise to impacted entities on remediation. In addition, the MC3 focuses on educational outreach by providing in-person and virtual educational sessions on cyber security topics, and develops information sharing products.

Participate in investigations related to network intrusions, ransomware, and business email compromises.
Provide educational training to end users on cyber security related topics.
Learn about the forensic capture and analysis process for digital evidence.
Develop products for information sharing with the public, local, state, and federal entities.
Look for active threats on the internet and dark web.
Students will also work with the MC3 to complete a project that will utilize their skills to benefit the Cyber Section.
Requirements:
The selected individual must be at least 18 years of age, be continuously enrolled in a program at a post-secondary educational institution (with a minimum of six credit hours per term or semester, where they will receive credit for this internship), have a valid operator's license, and pass a fingerprint-based "Criminal Justice Information Systems" background check.

The supplemental questions shall be used in conjunction with the PD-039 (Application for Internship), and PD-037 (Agreement for Provision of Unpaid Student Services to the Michigan Department of State Police). All students applying for an internship program with the Michigan State Police shall answer all the questions and attach/submit the completed PD-039 and PD-037 to the Internship posting.
