Job description

The Video Production Intern will support the development and production of effective professional quality visual and audio content and features to be delivered online, via broadcast, streaming, or other media forms. This role is critical to the success of the Credit Union and how we communicate to inspire our existing and potential employees. Individuals will be assigned department specific projects to complete during their time as a Video Production Intern.
Work Location: Hybrid or Onsite; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MIWork Schedule: Part-Time 15-25 hours; A schedule will be determined around the intern's class schedule.Paid Hourly Internship - $17.00/hourDuration: Spring Semester with potential to continue during summer (full time hours available)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, shoots, and edits new and existing video content
  • Creates and design graphics, special effects, and other visual images using pictures, video, etc. for use in a broad variety of Internal Communications and Credit Union initiatives
  • Writes scripts for videos
  • Utilizes Adobe Suite products such as Premier and After Effects
  • Assists in the development, research, and maintenance of video content for employee communication channels
  • Translates company strategies into elevated, engaging multi-media content
  • Creates highly-effective and professional video and audio output in line with industry standards
  • Executes Video Production from concept to completion and ensures collaboration with appropriate departments using clear workflows and open communication
  • Manages a variety of projects from inception to video delivery including pre-production, production, and post-production
  • Sets up video and lighting, shoots, records audio, mixes, and performs related production activities
  • Cares for all video equipment before, during and after all productions
  • Manages and communicates project milestones and proactively manages and reports on changes in project scope
  • Maintains industry standard best practices
  • Exhibits support for the organization's goals, values, initiatives, and cost control
  • Embraces ongoing education and learns/applies new skills and software applications
  • Represents the Credit Union at campus and community events
  • Participate in training activities within your department and with the learning and development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in related field of study
  • Creative thinking and visual storytelling skills
  • Displays high level of creativity and innovation
  • Ensures high level of creativity, efficiency, and productivity
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with DSLR cameras, and audio and lighting equipment
  • Maintains a high level of service, consistency, and professionalism
  • Seeks continuous learning and improvement through feedback
  • Self-starter able to work successfully in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to analyze problems and to arrive at a proper solution

  • Knowledge of foundational gear such as switchers, encoders, cameras
  • Proficiency with script writing, storyboarding, and creating treatments
  • Scene composition and shot-list creation skills
  • Comfortable with most video codecs and formats
  • Experience in the art of music editing and sound design
  • Proficient in Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud: Premiere, After-effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated expertise in setting up and adjusting studio lighting equipment including fixed and portable tungsten lights, audio equipment including assorted lavalier, cardioid, and shotgun microphones
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements.
