SUMMARY
The Zentalis internship program provides growth and learning opportunities to college students, graduate students, and recent PhD graduates. Over an 8-week period, interns will gain valuable scientific and industry experience.
Our Medicinal Chemistry team is looking to hire an intern who will have the opportunity to work on a laboratory based multi-step synthesis of bioactive molecules. At the end of the program, the intern will have the opportunity to present their project findings and independently set up experiments with sophisticated instrument handling in a chemistry lab, purify reactions and characterize intermediates/final compounds. This will be an onsite internship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Intern will be working on a discovery program mainly supporting the internal chemistry and introduced to:
- Operating the instruments like LCMS, Biotage Purification, and NMR
- Using an Electronic Lab Notebook and practicing lab safety
- Various types of reaction set-ups, monitoring, and work-ups
- Purification methods (regular column chromatography, ISCO, HPLC)
- Analytical characterization of intermediates and final compounds
- Med Chem/Drug Discovery principles
- Literature searches (Scifinder) and designing of synthetic routes, access articles (Read)
QUALIFICATIONS
- At minimum, must have completed junior year of college prior to the start of the internship, must be in good academic standing, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Knowledge of organic chemistry and reaction mechanism.
- Experience in the chemistry lab with chemical handling preferred.
- Available full time (40hrs per week) in-person at San Diego office June 17, 2024 - August 16, 2024.
