Job description

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit high-value frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company's R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

Revolution Medicines is seeking a motivated and scientifically talented individual to play a critical role in managing the external Medicinal Chemistry team within our world-class Discovery Chemistry Department. This position will be responsible for managing external research activities across global CROs in collaboration with Medicinal Chemists primarily in support of Revolution Medicines' research and discovery projects and to enable our clinical programs. This role is initially for an individual contributor with potential future line management responsibilities, reporting to the Associate Director and Head of CRO Management, Medicinal Chemistry.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities include full support of activities related to managing external research collaborations: quotes, monitoring progress, weekly meetings, review of reports and handling logistics with CROs (contract research organization) and CMOs (contract manufacturing organization). Travel to external sites may be required.

  • Close collaboration with Lead Chemist and project teams to set clear goals, identify reagents, drive target prioritization, identify key building blocks and force intermediates requirements, source intermediates and building blocks through commercial or FFS to support project needs and enable delivery under tight timelines.

  • Commit to the Chemistry CRO management vision to enhance our operational efficiency and flexibility through continuous improvement and the strategic + tactical use of CRO's.

  • Work cross functionally with Pharmacology, DMPK and CMC to provide synthesis or acquisition of reference/tool compounds to support various cross-functional studies.

  • Work with compound management group (internal and external) on registration, inventory, restock and logistics.

  • Responsible for monitoring spending, creating POs, and handling invoices.

  • Write, review reports, present at project/team meetings.

  • Keep clean and accurate records of inventory, progress, logistics and invoices.

  • Communicate effectively within cross functional project teams at Revolution Medicines and CROs.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Strong background in Synthetic or Medicinal Chemistry and industrial experience

  • MS with 10+ years or BS with 12+ years industrial experience or PhD with 2-3 years of industrial experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound technically driven decision-making ability.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, experience of communication with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-minded, result-oriented, and driven to complete projects on time with high quality.

  • An innovative team-player and leader with capacity to be effective in our dynamic and fast-paced company environment.

  • Able to function independently in a fluid environment under tight timelines.

  • Strong computer skills with MS Office suite, ChemOffice and various compound database systems.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Experience working with CROs/CMOs is strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing chemistry outsourcing, preferably analog preparation, scale-up, analytical chemistry, structural biology sourcing, is a plus.

The expected salary range for this role is $120,000 to $158,000. An individual's position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
