Summary

Spire is seeking an enthusiastic, career minded student or recent graduate to join our operations across our regions.  Our paid internship position affords students the opportunity to gain real-world experience to help put what they have learned in class into action. As an Intern, you may complete various projects and perform administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned department and natural gas industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Opportunity to rotate between various accounting and finance assignments to potentially include:
  • Financial and/or Operational Audits
  • Information Technology Audits
  • Compliance & Continuous Auditing/Monitoring
  • Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Assist with performance of Internal Audits and special projects under the direction of the Audit Manager
  • Document audit work performed while adhering to departmental and professional work paper standards
  • Utilize effective communication skills to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and team members at various level
  • Assist with the generation of standard and non-standard reports
  • Researches outstanding items/issues.
  • Accountable for quality, accuracy and planning of own work is crucial
  • Opportunity to travel to various business locations
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

none

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
  • Must be an undergraduate rising junior, senior or graduate level student.
  • Seeking a degree in Finance, Accounting or Business 
  • Will begin work in January 2024 and continue working 35- 40 hours per week until the end of summer 2024. 
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required with most positions.
  • Must participate in All Inclusive Onboarding and Project Poster Symposium 
     
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting theory and principles
  • Understanding of basic finance and Generally Accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and planning
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
Physical demands, environment and schedule
  • Open office Space and/or field work (depending on position); Hybrid work hours (3 days in the office/2 days at home)
