L+M offers a comprehensive intern program. During the ten-week program, interns will gain exposure to the industry, means and methods of construction, tour several jobsites, attend a lunch with company leaders, and make a presentation on lessons learned to senior management.
Within the Insurance and Risk Management team, the intern will work to ensure that the appropriate insurance coverage is in place (general liability, excess liability, pollution liability, worker's compensation, professional liability) for subcontractors, vendors, and consultants. The primary focus is the collection and review of insurance certificates, resolving issues and working with insurance brokers and insurance carriers. Specific duties will vary, but include tasks similar to these:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage in processing initial, renewal, and revisions for certificates of insurance
- Requesting renewal policies for review
- Participating in CCIP and OCIP calls to assist with non-compliant vendors
- Assist in collecting documentation for legal defense counsel in litigation.
- Facilitate the distribution of insurance-related mail, such as Certificates of Insurance, invoices, and claims, to the relevant recipients. Additionally, contact insured's broker to request a stop in mail delivery, promoting paper reduction and supporting green initiatives
Who We Want
- Undergraduate or graduate student presently enrolled in Risk Management courses or holding certifications such as ARM, CPCU, CRIS, or a Broker's license.
