The Aviation department is looking for a Technology& Innovation intern to join their team!
About the Technology & Innovation Unit:
The Aviation Technology and Innovation team is responsible for the Aviation Department’s technology strategy and leading innovation in the Aviation department.
Responsibilities:
Support several initiatives, including: deploying both customer facing and employee facing technology pilot projects at New York/New Jersey airports through our Innovation Program; completing a 5-year strategic technology plan; improving technology literacy; implementing technology standards and guidelines; and maintaining our IT inventory.
Participate in the development and execution of the Aviation Department's technology strategy.
Contribute actively to technology innovation initiatives within the department, such as:
Augmented Reality/Indoor Live View
Digital Platforms
Community App (Employee App)
Projected Wayfinding
Tech Literacy Program
New technology projects through the Innovation Program
Assist in project management tasks, including: coordinating schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
Engage in technology development projects, including: research, testing, and implementation of new technologies.
Analyze data related to aviation operations, technology usage, and performance metrics to identify trends and insights.
Support communications and marketing efforts related to technology initiatives, including creating content for internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to policy development by conducting research, drafting documents, and providing recommendations.
Collaborate with team members on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to aviation technology and innovation.
Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August2024 or beyond)
Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
Interest in public service and/or transportation
Willingness to learn
Desired:
Major in Public Administration, Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Urban Planning, Information Technology, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field
Familiarity withPower BI, GIS, and Project Management tools
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Interest in technology and innovation
Interest in organizational change
Internship Details:
The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
This is a full-time internship(generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
The format is expected to be hybrid
The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
