Job Description
Provides primary support for unclaimed property compliance efforts including:
- Research unclaimed property laws and reporting requirements by state
- Design decision tools to evaluate unclaimed property status
- Perform and document due diligence efforts in attempting to connect identified unclaimed property with owners
- Develop unclaimed property policies and procedures
- Prepare proposal for initial compliance
The mandatory project must be completed by the end of the internship. Terms of the project shall be mutually agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.
Time permitting, this role may also gain experience in other areas of accounting, including accounting standard implementation (ASU 2016-13), month end close, interim and year end audit and other areas.
Internship Term Duration:
- Spring 2024 (January-May)
Required Work Hours:
- Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8 am-5 pm).
- If you are participating in our co-op program – we require that you take no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Intermediate project management skills.
- Intermediate research skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Appropriate sense of urgency.
Preferred Skills:
- Intermediate accounting knowledge.
- Intermediate tax knowledge.
Experience Preferred:
- Experience with unclaimed property compliance.
- Experience working in an ERP (3E preferred).
Education Required:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax or similar concentration. Must have completed at least Sophomore year. Academic good standing.
Preferred Education:
- Major in Accounting, Tax or similar concentration
- 3.00 GPA or higher, preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Position not eligible for work from home.
