Job Description
Pillsbury is seeking an associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Austin office. Qualified candidate must be patent-bar qualified, ideally with a background in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or similar fields, and have 2 to 4 years of experience in patent litigation.

Responsibilities include:
- Handle all aspects of patent litigation on existing and new client matters with a team of IP attorneys locally and across the firm advising companies at every stage of development, from entrepreneurial start-ups to multibillion-dollar corporations.
- Independently research and analyze complex technical issues.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications. Draft pleadings and motions. Organize, conduct, and manage the discovery practice.
- Participate in hearings and depositions and interface directly with clients.
- Draft IP agreements and provide IP subject matter expertise for corporate deals.
- Associate will work closely with experienced IP attorneys locally and firmwide who will provide mentoring and meaningful opportunities to assume increasing levels of responsibility.
Qualifications include:
- Demonstrated ability to litigate complex IP matters and thrive in a fast-paced environment working with IP attorneys to provide the highest level of client service (2-4 years of patent litigation experience required).
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science; Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school; and excellent academic performance required.
- Must possess the technical and analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of patent-related matters.
- Experienced with writing software, ideally in several layers of a software stack preferred. Familiarity with applied mathematics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or natural language processing is helpful.
- Outstanding legal research and writing skills with the ability to write scientific and technical documents in clear, concise English.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication necessary to communicate with a diverse team of attorneys, staff, and clients and ability to provide information with courtesy and tact in person, electronically, and by phone.
- Knowledge of ethics and conduct codes, which are a requirement for the practice of the law.
- A member, or eligible to become a member, of the Texas Bar Association.
