Center for Child Counseling is looking for a passionate, dedicated, positive individual for the Intake Department. Intermediate to advanced computer skills is a must.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Intake Mental Health Specialist role within the agency includes helping the Intake Manager implement prevention and early interventions services in CFCC offices, via Teams, community, and possibly the client’s home, providing Mental Health consultations, support groups, parent/caregiver workshops and referring/working with community partners.
The major focus of this position includes conducting prescreening intakes, screening tools, consents and supporting Front Desk Coordinators. This role will utilize a strength-based perspective to help families strengthen and manage the quality of their lives by engaging the family, advocating on their behalf, initiating change agent activities, teaching problem solving skills, modeling productive behaviors, and assisting in the successful completion of child and family developmental milestones.
The Mental Health Specialist should be a passionate, positive, committed, and knowledgeable individual who wants to contribute to the growth and development of the Center for Child Counseling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- A minimum of two years working with culturally diverse children and families.
- Experience with structured groups and parent education groups is preferred.
- Openness to learning, capacity for self-reflection, and eagerness to participate in reflective supervision.
- Knowledge of parent education, parent-child relationships, and individual, family, and community-level risk factors (e.g., poverty, homelessness, maternal depression, domestic violence, substance abuse, teen parenthood).
- Experience working in home and community-based settings with vulnerable populations of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
- Strong commitment to the vision, mission, and goals of Center for Child Counseling.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, reliable, and flexible (including willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings).
- Eager and able to work as part of a team.
- Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Adobe, etc.)
- The ability to upload videos and use Video Conferencing Programs like Teams and Zoom is required.
- Must have knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
- Must display professionalism in the day-to-day operations of the office, which includes response to feedback, direction, suggestions, accepting responsibility, working as a team player, volunteering when needed, reporting whereabouts, promoting a cohesive working environment. Must also display professionalism in communications and on-going working relationship with outside agencies and organizations.
