ResponsibilitiesConducts therapeutic intervention sessions with the teen mother, father and child utilizing an Infant Mental health framework within the home setting including dyadic therapy, developmental guidance, addressing issues of violence/abuse/trauma, and supporting the responsiveness of the young parent and their child. Encourages the teen in developing life skills by helping them to establish goals,
maintain healthy relationships, use community services, and reduce court-involvement. Facilitates referrals to community agencies for teen parents and their children related to complex needs, which may include trauma-related services, Part C/Early Intervention Early Steps, and mandatory reporting to the abuse registry as required by law.
Provides assessment to teen and baby during intake and exit from the program, and other data points to include the teens' psycho-social history, traumatic experiences, the development of the teen and baby, parent-child interaction, home environment, and family support by using professional observation and standardized instruments.
Works collaboratively with team members daily providing on-going communication and coordination of services. Participates in weekly team meetings to review cases and decide on joint recommendations to address the needs of court-involved young families.
Completes written documentation in a timely manner to include: Progress Notes about case activity, pre & post evaluations regarding the teen and child, and status reports to the judge and JPOs that document program outcomes. Compiles data and reports about project activities. Uses expertise in reporting information regarding the Mental Health issues.
Attends court hearings as needed and responds to requests for updates about project participation, risk and protective factors, parental responsiveness to the young child, and trauma-related issues.
Meets individually with the Site Coordinator, and program supervisor within a reflective practice framework to discuss cases, plan intervention strategies, and consider professional capacities. Attends recommended trainings to improve knowledge, skills and abilities.
QualificationsMaster's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field, or will obtain it by May 2024.
A valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.
Two (2) years of experience working with families with complex needs, especially adolescents. Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of health, human services, and counseling programs.
Working knowledge of child and adolescent development.

This position requires a flexible work schedule that may include after-school hours from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm and Saturdays between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
