SUMMARY:
The Intake Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for all requests for services. This position provides immediate support and guidance and acts as triage for the agency. It is this position that most often intercepts the worried parent, counseling caregivers on their fears and dispelling myths associated with forensic interviews and forensic medical exams.
The Intake Coordinator schedules all forensic interviews and exams, coordinates investigative parties and families who will be present for the assessment. The Intake Coordinator guides parents in supporting their child after the interview, as he/she may continue to disclose details of their abuse. The Intake Coordinator also coordinates internal meetings and presentations, assists in filing Crime Victims Compensation Forensic Rape Exam forms for child victims, and coordinates court testimony for staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Other duties may be assigned.
· Evaluate requests for medical and forensic assessments of children or mentally-challenged adult victims of sexual or physical abuse, child witnesses of violent crimes including homicides, and child victims of pornography and on-line predators.
· Answer questions/address concerns as needed from parents/family members with empathy and respect.
· Coordinate appointments for evaluations with all relevant parties including families, child protective services, law enforcement and victim advocacy agencies.
· Refer callers to other resources if ACP does not provide applicable services.
· Assign interviews and exams to ACP staff through email and within agency calendar.
· Enter and update any case information into the confidential database, including but not limited to: family demographics, appointments, summary of allegation(s), referrals, alleged perpetrator information, and any other information obtained from investigators on case prior to, and after appointments.
· Coordinate and attend off site SCAN (MDIT) meetings. (Attendees include: District Attorney’s Office, Victim Advocacy, Law enforcement, Mental Health and CPS)
· Participate in educational/training forums for public or other targeted audiences, as requested.
· Monitor incoming subpoenas, communicating with ACP staff and with issuers to best plan for testimony in person and by phone.
· Maintain absolute confidentiality in relation to patient information and abide by all HIPPA regulations.
· Assist personnel in daily tasks, both on and off site, including database entry, filing, and other clerical duties.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by Director or Program Coordinator, to promote and develop the program.

· Possess ability to deal with graphic, detailed descriptions of child abuse on a daily basis.
· Possess ability to inform callers of Mandated Reporting Laws.
· Understand the patient population and common related issues/problems/concerns.
· Interact effectively, acting in a professional manner at all times, with CPS, foster care, law enforcement, judicial system personnel, relevant caretakers, health care providers, co-workers and advocacy personnel.
· Maintain a current and working knowledge of community systems and service providers.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor Degree (Master’s preferred) with social service emphasis and 2-3 years of experience in the field of child maltreatment with a particular emphasis on child sexual abuse. Preference given to candidates with previous experience in criminal justice or human services.
