Insurance Verification Specialist

Spine Institute of Central Florida is seeking a Benefit Verification Specialist to join our rapidly growing team. Our team assists in providing exceptional care and customer service to the patients and our customers. Must be detailed oriented and organized, to maintain accurate patient insurance records. Must work well with others, as part of a healthcare team, striving to provide patients with the best possible care.

Benefit Verification Specialist responsibilities include:

• Completes patient demographics.
• Verifies the assignment of Benefits.
• Details notes of insurance requirements in “appointment notes” section of computer system.
• Verifies both primary and secondary insurance.
• Notifies the physician's office staff of the need for additional information as required.
• Assists Authorizations Department with problematic claims in regards to verification.
• Handles Stat verification requests from all departments as needed.
• Sets up new insurance information when necessary on patients’ accounts.
• Researches incorrect insurance information and makes corrections in the system when needed.
• Attends training seminars and/or staff meetings and participates in special meetings as required.
• All other duties as assigned or requested.
• Basic Experience Insurance billing experience utilizing CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of the hospital admitting processes.
• Effective communication skills with co-workers, patients, insurance companies, outside physician offices and physicians.
• Reports to work regularly and on time.
• Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates the utmost in professionalism.
• Dresses appropriately and professionally.
• Works well independently, without supervision.
• Completes work accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administration and other staff members.
• Possess the ability and desire for cross-training in all areas of the business office.
• Preferred Experience Prior experience in a private practice or hospital setting strongly preferred.
