Title
Insurance Coordinator
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Insurance Coordinator will support the department of risk management.
Insurance:
The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for administering and maintaining insurance policies (with the exception of worker's compensation) for the system:
- Serves as Bronson's liaison with various insurance brokers for analysis of corporation insurance needs to ensure optimum coverage and cost terms.
- Lead the process of submitting yearly applications for addition and/or renewal of insurance lines, including collaboration with entity subject matter experts on timely submission of sensitive organizational and financial information.
- Ensures claims are processed in a timely manner and resolves issues that occur during that process, including management of adjustors, insurance investigators, consultants and appraisers.
- Identifies and analyzes any gaps in coverage and risks associated with insurance policies and exposures.
- Makes recommendations to leadership to minimize financial loss.
- Creates and manages an annual budget for insurance expenditures.
Self-Insurance
The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for administering and maintaining Bronson's professional and general liability self-insurance program:
- Manage policy renewal and ensure certificates for all covered entities and providers in the system are issued and distributed to recipients.
- Determine insurability of new employed providers in the system credentialing process.
- Maintain a database of employed providers to facilitate carrier auditing, issuance of certificates and verification of coverage and claims.
- Verifies the existence of Bronson coverage and claims history upon request by current or employed providers or their authorized representatives.
- Identifies and analyzes any gaps in coverage and risks associated with insurance policies and exposures.
Risk Management Information System Administration:
- Serve as the administrator of the risk management information system (RMIS).
- Maintains viability of RMIS system, data integrity and external feeds.
- Works with end users to design and manage processes and expectations of the system.
- Acts a RMIS subject matter expert for organization.
- Works with the RMIS vendor to manage, define and implement system and development projects.
- Maintains short- and long-term project roadmap and prioritizes projects according to department priorities.
- Participates in long term data strategy planning and execution
- Serve as a technical liaison between the risk management and information technology.
- Interacts with system users to ensure that that the user understands and adheres to information protection and compliance requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Self-directed. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality. Ability to listen to others.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The minimum level of educational attainment and/or length and character of experience needed to perform the job effectively.
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in risk management, insurance or claims management or paralegal work helpful.
• Proven skills in analysis and problem-solving focused on process and human interactions to reach conclusions and solutions.
• Five years prior experience compliance, insurance and/or risk management preferred but not required.
• Strong willingness to learn insurance and risk management in the absence of direct experience.
• Advanced computer skills
• Strong knowledge of database systems and Excel
• Familiarity with electronic medical records
