Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Provides quality instruction that will contribute to the learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the course and to be successful in both their education and career development experiences.
Essential Duties


  • Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center or other setting as appropriate.
  • Provides student contact before or after class or through telephone or email exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
  • Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate into instructional activities.
  • Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students each course. Maintains and revises curriculum to maintain currency.
  • Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the College community.
  • Responsible for classroom, laboratory, and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
  • Understands and abides by College policies and regulations and other policies, procedures, and materials as required by the College, departments or divisions
  • Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.
  • Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for incompletes within established College timelines.
  • Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
  • May participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintains current licenses or certificates in areas of expertise.
  • May attend in-service sessions and division meetings.
  • May direct aides and work-study students as assigned.
  • Understands and uses the College's computer system.
  • May travel to Social Service agencies to visit cooperative education students in placements.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education: Master of Social Work or M.S. / M.A. in counseling or school counseling
Experience/Training:


  • Current driver's license, insurance, and the ability to be insured by the colleges' insurance carrier
  • Some practical experience as a clinical counselor and/or therapist
  • Teaching experience at the college level

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the College's community; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity.
  • Possession of a Certificate of Alcohol and Drug Counseling (levels I, II, or III) from the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License in School Social Work (LSSW), and/or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Additional Qualifications and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Visual eye strain and repetitive hand/wrist motion for data entry and keyboarding functions.

Salary
Salary placement will be based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant education and full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past education and/or experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
