Join our team as an Instructional Designer Intern/Co-op and embark on an exciting journey to create engaging educational materials for students and professionals worldwide. In this role, you will collaborate closely with experienced Instructional Designers, subject matter experts, and various departments, gaining hands-on experience in the field of instructional design. This role will be based in our facility in the Minneapolis, MN area.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Assist in the Creation of Online Training Modules: Under the guidance of senior designers, utilize instructional design tools such as Articulate Storyline to develop web-based interactive training modules.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts: Work closely with subject matter experts to gather content and source materials for training materials.
- Participate in Training Project Planning: Contribute to the planning of training projects, considering factors such as the target audience, training scope, format (interactive content, how-to videos, presentations), learning objectives, and the creation of audio, visual, and interactive assets.
- Apply Instructional Design Theories: Apply fundamental instructional design theories, practices, and methods to create effective learning materials.
- Assist in Assessment Creation: Collaborate with subject matter experts to design assessments that evaluate learning outcomes.
- Support Multimedia Development: Contribute to the creation of supporting materials and media, including audio, video, simulations, role-plays, and games.
- Maintain Project Documentation: Help maintain organized project documentation and course folders.
- Contribute to Content Creation: Assist in writing effective copy, instructional text, storyboards, and audio/video scripts.
- Participate in Video Production: Collaborate with subject experts and personas to record training videos.
- Basic Audio and Video Editing: Gain experience in using various tools for basic audio and video editing.
- Design Reports: Take responsibility for designing reports related to training programs and their outcomes.
- Local Training Organization: Assist in organizing and coordinating local training events and sessions, including training rooms management.
- Local Multimedia Studio Usage: Utilize and manage local multimedia studio resources for content creation and recording.
Embark on an enriching journey as an Instructional Designer Intern, where you'll have the opportunity to not only refine your instructional design skills but also take on responsibilities such as crafting reports, coordinating local training initiatives, overseeing training room logistics, and making the most of our local multimedia studio resources.
This position would be a full-time role for up to 12 months. Relocation will not be provided for this position.
Education: Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an interest in instructional design or a related field.
Prior experience in instructional design or a relevant area is a plus.
Skills and Competences:
- Instructional Design Knowledge: A basic understanding of instructional theory, including assessment methodologies.
- Digital Skills: Familiarity with website design best practices and a basic understanding of HTML.
- Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Tool Familiarity: Exposure to Instructional Designer tools, especially Articulate Storyline.
- Graphic Design Basics: Basic experience in image and video editing.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
- Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills to solve instructional design challenges.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Interpersonal Skills: Develop interpersonal skills through collaboration with diverse groups and profiles to manage project priorities and deadlines
