Position Summary
Responsible for producing and designing educational content for new media and instructional delivery environments in both English and Spanish. Assist in the translation of existing material. Layout and design of graphics for publications and courseware.
Primary Duties
- Produces and designs content using course authoring tools (Lectora or equivalent software) that will link to a learning management system.
• Supports subject matter expert teams in the development of new curriculum content.
• Works with outside consultants in graphic design and technical writing.
• Writes, proofreads, and edits copy brochures, print and other forms of documents, and writes, prepares and/or reviews articles to be used in program publications.
• Proofreads, reviews, and edits curriculum materials for accurate use of grammar and content.
• Works with pre-press to ensure quality of NEIEP print publications.
• Works with IT to help with creation and support of online courses.
• Translates new and existing curriculum content from English to Spanish.
• Works directly with other development managers to determine the needs and applicability of different types of computer-based training (CBT) content, including interactive course interfaces, animated models, and competency-based approaches to assessment in a digital format.
• Experience with photography/video editing software a plus.
• May be assigned additional duties related to the administration of different programs related to the Development department, which may include working closely with the IT department regarding development of new website features, web support, and content administration.
Education and Skills Required
- BA/BS or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3 years of visual communication/ graphical experience in a professional setting or educational environment.
• Instructional design experience
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish, strong writing and editing skills, and proven interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with workforce and external institutions is required.
• The ability to organize time, manage projects, flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment and ability to give appropriate attention to detail is required.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites, Lectora or equivalent software, and web-based applications is required.

Typing, copying and scheduling may be performed by employees in this position but may be assigned to other employees.
Supervision Exercised
This position manages a program and oversees outside contractors but does not supervise employees.
Supervision Received
UNDER DIRECTION (example– supervisors and higher-level professionals): establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.
Some of NEIEP's main responsibilities are to manage and direct the implementation of curricula; design, administer and monitor Probationary Training and Evaluation Program for all new hires entering the trade; administer a Distance Learning program for eligible students; and for instructors - conduct beginning through advanced level seminars to improve teaching skills and techniques.
NEIEP designs, develops, updates, administers, and monitors the Mechanic Examinations in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor.
