SAS' US Life Sciences Practice has an immediate opening for an Inside Sales Business Development Representative. This role will focus on identifying and supporting new sales opportunities, creating sales enablement resources and driving cohesive, industry-specific external strategies that cultivate awareness and generate significant pipeline opportunity for the Life Sciences team.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in Inside Sales and/or Marketing, with the proven ability to work within cross-functional teams to deliver business impact. We’re seeking candidates who have a passion for the Life Sciences industry and desire to provide strategic guidance as well as tactical support to internal and external stakeholders all in an effort to fuel growth.
What you’ll do
- Source and develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential customers within the Life Sciences sales portfolio
- Build relationships within existing account portfolio, providing company and technical information and preparing proposals in support of account executives
- Identify internal client trends and emerging issues or initiatives and create enablement resources that help SAS properly align around those that represent a business opportunity for SAS
- Assess competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information on a regular cadence
- Create, execute and measure industry-specific sales enablement campaigns
- Support industry event planning, including stakeholder outreach and pipeline tracking
- Assist with thought leadership and market research initiatives led by the Life Sciences Practice
- Prepare and deliver presentations to customers
- Support the sales team’s pipeline development and target achievement
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Healthcare/Healthcare Administration, Economics, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline preferred
- Typically requires a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in Inside Sales, marketing, corporate communications, pharma, biotech, and/or CRO companies
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities needed:
- Demonstrated ability to present to all levels of an organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic selling skills, skills in analyzing and evaluating territory dynamics to develop and implement a sales plan
- Ability to initiate and lead projects
- Be an energetic self-starter
- Stellar presentation skills
Nice to haves:
- Proven success in a business development role or other strategic selling role
- Experience with consultative selling
- Experience managing Senior Executive level relationships both internally and externally to an organization
- Knowledge of software acquisition cycles and buying influences
- Advanced knowledge of industry software and hardware terminology and concepts
- Knowledge of SAS solutions, products and services preferred
- Ability to relate technical and business concepts to SAS solutions, applications and user needs
- Demonstrated ability to drive incremental revenue
