Inside Sales Estimator position available in Monrovia CA. 91016
Monday through Friday - 7:30am to 4:30pm
Position Summary:
Under general and/or direct supervision of the Inside Sales Manager, this position works in partnership with the Inside Sales Engineers, Sales Administrators, and the Business Development Representatives to provide accurate and timely cost estimations for all New and Repeat parts. Provides presale support consultation services, making creative and innovative recommendations on the use and application of capabilities of the company and its Sub Suppliers. Coordinates with Purchasing on material pricing and availability. This position will report directly to the Inside Sales Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure timely and accurate return of request for quotations from our customers and prospects; enters appropriate quote into our JobBoss or Paperless tracking system; and follows up with customer or prospect to determine status of quotation. Preferably within 2-3 days or per customer due date request. Always copy/cc RFQ to business development.
- Estimated costs to include all processes, procedures, quality requirements, and tooling.
- Determine price breaks for requested quantities.
- Identify and provide cost estimates for additional part requirements like inserts and hardware, and additional processes like painting, coating, and cleaning.
- Coordinate with Suppliers and Purchasing on material costs, yields, and lead times.
- Coordinate with Operations on lead times for programming, production, and inspection.
- Analyze previous quotes for Repeat parts for necessary adjustments in costing.
- Participate in regular training activities with Production group to expand expertise on machining operations.
- Attend or initiate any Design Review meetings needed to accurately estimate a project.
- Clearly and accurately provide cost information for JobBoss and Paperless systems.
- Assist Sales Administration personnel in preparing Repeat quotes.
- Provide project information to Business Development Representatives including engineering contacts, machining costs, and material selections.
- Stay up to date with competitive activities and competitors’ positions in the marketplace.
- Ensure that each job has a specification and layout diagram (blueprint) and verify the completeness of applicable documentation.
- Verify the terms of the contract (Purchase Order) with the conditions of the RFQ.
- Load Purchase Orders and Drawings into Docuware and index accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Estimate costs to include all processes, procedures, quality requirements, and tooling.
- Cycle time estimates, speed and feeds. Material pricing, understand yielding.
- Understanding machining, design, and material knowledge is a plus or must be willing to learn.
- CNC mill and/or lathe experience, Understands CAD files, knows different types of plastics.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents is a plus or must be willing to learn.
- Understands datums, positional tolerance, dimensional tolerances. Can read material specifications.
- Knowledge of computer systems/manufacturing software programs such as JobBoss, Paperless or Docuware is a plus.
- Understands CAD systems such as MasterCam. Has worked with ERP systems such as JobBoss.
- Associate degree in business or technical discipline is preferred; or 1-4 years experience and/or training in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Has some education and/or technical experience with industries such as: Aerospace, Medical, Electronic, NASA (SpaceX & JPL)
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel) and Internet.
- Has desktop computer experience, understands email correspondence and can talk on the phone with technical ability. Can surf the internet to research customers and suppliers.
- Estimate costs to include all processes, procedures, quality requirements, and tooling.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Associate degree in business or technical discipline is preferred; or 1-4 years experience and/or training in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Understanding machining, design, and material knowledge is a plus or must be willing to learn.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents is a plus or must be willing to learn.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel) and Internet.
- Knowledge of computer systems/manufacturing software programs such as JobBoss, Paperless or Docuware is a plus.
- Must be aggressive and goal oriented.
