Pay Range: $ 33.19/hr - $ 39.00/hr - $ 44.81/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:
The LVN, Infection Preventionist has a multifaceted role within the organization incorporating the components of clinical practice, consultation, education, performance improvement and research regarding best clinical practice. The Infection Preventionist performs the functions of the Infection Prevention and Control Program in collaboration with the Infection Prevention Coordinator and the Quality& Safety department. The Infection Preventionist collects infection data; and assists Infection Preventionist RN in the investigation and surveillance of suspected outbreak infections; the planning, implementation and evaluation of infection prevention measures; the education of individuals about infection risk, prevention and control; the development and revision of infection prevention and control policies and procedures; assists with the organization of infection prevention and control activities; and the provision of consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention and control strategies. The Infection Preventionist will be required to participate in an on-call rotation as determined by their manager. The Infection Preventionist will focus primarily on the ambulatory services area by performing regular rounding and surveillance as directed by the Infection Prevention Leadership.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
* Three years of acute nursing experience as an LVN or LPT.
Desired:
* Formal training and/or experience in infection control
* Experience in quality improvement processes and theory
* Infection Prevention experience
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
* Current licensure by the California Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians as an LVN or LPT
* Current CPR recognition (within 3 months of hire)
Desired:
* Certification in infection control or willing to pursue within 3 years of hire.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Demonstrated working knowledge of change management concepts. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines to include Joint Commission standards, Title 22 regulations, OSHA regulations, and Medicare Conditions of Participation. Working knowledge of hospital information systems. Demonstrates skill in complex problem solving. Demonstrates and understands collection and analysis of data and statistical process control methods. Demonstrates evidence of strong skills in confidentiality, integrity, creativity, and initiative. Demonstrates ability to interact in a collaborative manner with a wide variety of individuals and handle complex and confidential-sensitive situations and information. Must have a working knowledge of research methodologies and statistics. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Access, Adobe Reader and Meditech Medical Information System. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
