The primary purpose of the Infection Control Coordinator is to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs and orientation throughout the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times. Additionally with responsbiltiy as the Educator, that will includes functions to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the educational program and service for this facility. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing appropriate orientation programs for all newly hired Nursing Department employees.
We are seeking an experienced and reliable professional RN to assume these responsibilities along with providing team-oriented support with the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day nursing department schedule. Someone that is a resilient educator accustomed to educating a diverse population of staff. Must be organized, resident centered, and facility culture driven.
Requirements:
- Must have an active Pennsylvania RN license free of any disciplinary action
- Prior experience in Staff Development and/or Infection Control
- Long Term Care experience required
- The Nursing Educator shall also be responsible for providing educational programs to residents, residents’ family members and other responsible parties based on identified needs and knowledge deficits.
- Assesses the educational needs of employees in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Supervisors, and other personnel.
- Assesses the educational needs of residents and family members and responsible parties residing or visiting in the facility.
- Formulates in-service education objectives in accordance with the philosophy of the Nursing Department.
- Establishes criteria for all in-service education programs, constructing the curriculum, course outlines, objectives, teaching methods, examinations, and evaluation tools for each program.
- Constructs an annual schedule for presentation of mandatory in-service programs.
- Plans and implements an orientation program for all Nursing Department personnel and based on identified educational needs, offers individualized counseling and guidance (including infection control and employee health program.
- Supplements and integrates in-service education into everyday clinical practice throughout the facility.
- Utilizes educational opportunities outside the facility in order to meet the identified learning needs of the employees.
- Distributes educational materials to facility employees to foster continuing updating of knowledge – maintains up-to-date resources for the facility.
- Serves as resource person and consultant to any facility employee in order to provide ongoing learning and self-improvement.
- Keeps informed of new legislation and regulations that impact on standards of nursing practice and resident care.
- As a role model, instills in each employee an appreciation of individual contribution in delivering the optimum quality care in the facility.
- Presents educational programs for resident and family members based on identified needs or upon request.
- Evaluates effectiveness of educational presentations designed to meet the assessed needs for all personnel, in cooperation and consultation with the Director of Nursing and Nursing Supervisors – including the appropriateness of resident and family education programs.
- Formulates and implements tools for evaluation and methods of follow-up for the orientation, in-service education, and continuing education programs offered at the facility.
