Position Summary:To conduct and present research specific to infants/toddlers and provide specialized coaching and technical assistance to administrators and caregivers of infants/toddlers.
Essential Functions
- Provides coaching and technical assistance as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Provide updates on newest infant/toddler research.
- Promote and educate providers and community members on the WV Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Designation (BFCCD) initiative by recruiting child care centers, facilities, and family Child care providers to participate.
- Serve as the lead contact for the WV Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Designation (BFCCD).
- Assist providers with the maintenance and renewal of the Breastfeeding Friendly Child care Designation certification.
- Maintain documentation of (BFCCD) process.
- Serve as Team Leader for technical assistance team consisting of the Child care Nurse Health Consultant and the Child care Health Educator.
- Work collaboratively with the TRAILS team.
- Collaboratively work with the ITSN to develop initiatives.
- Attend ITSN meetings and planning retreats.
- Conduct and present research on infant/toddler policies, best practices and child care trends.
Marginal Functions
- Participate in required meetings including staff and unit meetings.
- Provide technical assistance visits that require in-depth knowledge of infant/toddler development, as needed.
- Participate in field experiences to establish and maintain relationships with Family Child care Facility providers.
- Participate in the Traveling Resources for Infant Providers (T.R.I.P) program.
- Promote membership in the WV Infant Mental Health Association and provide coaching through the endorsement process.
- Collaborate with the local Community Colleges and Technical schools to promote articulation of WVIT I-R and WVIT II.
- Any other duties assigned.

Education
- Preferred: A master's degree in early childhood, developmental psychology, education psychology or child development.
- Required: A bachelor's degree in early childhood, developmental psychology, or child development.
Experience
- Preferred: Three years of work experience as an Infant/Toddler Specialist.
- Required: Five years of work experience as an Infant/Toddler Specialist.
Employment Conditions
- Valid driver's license.
- Able to travel extensively and work flexible hours.
- Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Adhere to National Association for the Education of Youn Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements of the STARS career pathway including becoming a STARS credentialed trainer.
- Complete initial online training for Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale-revised (ITERS-R) within first (6) months of employment.
- Certification for the Program for Infant/Toddler care.
Environmental Conditions
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little temperature changes at least fifty percent (50%) of the time.
- Prolonged sitting at a desk viewing a computer screen and keyboard typing.
- Frequent face-to-face, electronic, and virtual interactions with internal and external customers.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Public contact position requiring appropriate business casual apparel.
- This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week following a successful 90-day review
Physical Demands
- Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
