About the Center of Innovation: The mission of the Center of Innovation - Logistics (COI-L) is to help Georgia businesses clear the path to innovation and growth through expert advice and navigation to the right resources. That mission entails extensive interaction with local industry, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), other Georgia state departments, local logistics organizations and local community leaders.

This position is housed at Georgia Tech and the benefits package is offered through GT. The GDEcD funds and provides the director for this position under a contract between GDEcD and GT. This position directly reports to the Director, Logistics within the Center of Innovation at GDEcD, with a dotted line reporting relationship to Georgia Tech as necessary for administrative purposes. Job Summary

Job Summary

The mission of the Center of Innovation - Logistics (COI-L) is to help Georgia businesses clear the path to innovation and growth through expert advice and navigation to the right resources. This role is a key resource for providing information, connections, and innovative solutions to help Georgia's logistics industry grow, prosper, and compete globally. That mission entails extensive interaction with local industry, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), other Georgia state departments, local logistics organizations and local community leaders.

Job Responsibilities

    Building awareness of the COI-L by participating in and attending various industry and community events and meetings

    Assisting the Director in creating value for all stakeholders by planning, organizing, and executing high-quality strategic events on-time and on-budget including event marketing, sponsorship engagement, attendee engagement, on-site execution, and post event follow-up

    Assisting the Director in consultative efforts with Georgia logistics service providers or shippers to identify their challenges and facilitate partnerships with resources in the state to provide solutions that lead to company growth through innovation.

    Assisting the Director by conducting research to procure relevant information and statistics within specific areas of interest to share in the broader Georgia logistics ecosystem.

    Assisting the Director in building and maintaining an extensive network of resources in academia, government, and industry that can support the growth of Georgia logistics companies.

    Managing and maintaining detailed project and engagement records for internal and external use

    Performing organizational administrative tasks, and other related duties, as assigned.

    Job duties include occasional procurement of office supplies and office equipment for the logistics team and items related to small events.

Hybrid Working
This position is hybrid: remote and onsite. The primary office location can/may be in the metro-Atlanta area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel state-wide and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client schedules and/or project requirements).

Research Associate I

    A Bachelor's degree in logistics or supply chain management, Business Administration, Economic Development, or a related/relevant field.

Research Associate II

    A Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Economic Development, or a related/relevant field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or

    A Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economic Development, or a related/relevant field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a bachelor's degree, or

    A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economic Development, or a related/relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Work Experience: Three years job-related work experience.

Preferred Skills: Advanced skills and experience in the use of CRM software, databases, Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred applicant backgrounds include: Experience in consultative service delivery and/or prior experience working in a higher education and/or economic development environment. Experience working in a logistics-related role in industry, academia, or government. Experience ordering office supplies and equipment and items related to small events.

Preferred Certifications: Certified Supply Chain Professional

Proposed Salary

Depending on education and experience, this position will pay between $60,000-$65,000. GT employees are bound to the GT/USG compensation policies.
