Industry Credit Risk Management – CRE is responsible for portfolio management of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and/or Impact Finance portfolio across U.S. Bank. The functions include risk identification and management of credit risks, potentially including risks associated with climate change. The team provides independent risk management and governance working closely with the business line, credit approval and various other key constituents to build out a comprehensive and proactive approach to portfolio management that promotes a strong risk management culture, aligned with U.S. Bank’s risk appetite.
Job Description
The Industry Credit Risk Management – CRE Officer, as part of Credit Risk Management, manages and identifies risk for Bank-wide commercial real estate and related loan portfolios and the loan and/or equity portfolios within Impact Finance. The person is responsible for developing pro-active and forward-looking viewpoints regarding their industry / portfolio and creating solutions and recommendations for managing risk and influencing positive change. This includes directing, monitoring, and coordinating risk management projects for assigned industries / portfolios.
Essential Functions
- Identifies current and emerging risks of an assigned lending/equity industry / portfolio, and develops conclusions and recommendations for managing risk
- Works closely with the business line and credit approval and provides expertise and consultation regarding industry and portfolio credit issues and risks
- Manages the risk management strategies and elements of an assigned lending industry / portfolio, including credit quality and portfolio management strategies
- Coordinates and provides subject matter expertise on reviews of and changes to specialty lending/equity credit policies
- Completes risk management projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than six years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Extensive knowledge of commercial lending and credit standards, policies, procedures, and products
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience and/or strong interest in credit risk management relating to climate change
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Well-developed negotiating skills and networking ability
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge and experience with the CAPE.net and/or nCino underwriting platforms
- Ability to interpret data, draw conclusions and recommend next steps
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an emphasis on finance, economics and accounting
This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at the listed U.S. Bank location(s), while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.
