Job Description
We are seeking an Industrial Quality Inspector to join our team! Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify products meet customer drawings and specifications, to verify consistency in production with a primary emphasis on quality and safety. The following description is general; other duties may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities:
- · Familiar with welding, fabrication, bolted structures and assemblies.
- · Perform visual and dimensional inspections on structural steel weldments and assemblies.
- · Perform visual inspections on coatings.
- · May conducts receiving inspections, approves incoming materials by confirming products and materials meet purchase orders, customer and/or code specifications and requirements.
- · Conducts and approves in-process production inspections such as verify raw material cut dimensions, weld fit up, welding, and coating.
- · Familiar with welding codes of construction and inspection such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1.
- · Familiar with weld processes such as FCAW, GMAW, GTAW.
- · Familiar with NDE procedures such as PT, VT, RT.
- · Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and generating a punch list and inputting data into quality database.
- · Must be able to use measurement tools such as tape measures in 1/32” increments.
- · Responsible for determining component acceptance.
- · Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with regulations.
- · Interface with shop personnel.
- · Ensure timely inspections are performed.
- · Able to read blueprints in English.
Qualifications:
- The following education, experience and knowledge are preferred for this position:
- · Two years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a fabrication facility
- · Experience as a fitter, welder or fabricator helpful.
- · General knowledge of AWS codes, NDE techniques, welding, fabrication and inspection processes.
- · Must be knowledgeable of various fabrication/construction codes and standards, as well as material types and usage.
- · Must be able to comprehend technical information, in English, both verbal and written.
- · Must have clear verbal and writing skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- · Working conditions are 10% in an office environment and 90% in a shop/yard environment, as well as exposure to industrial machinery, welding and grinding, and varying weather conditions.
- · Must be able to work overtime and half day Saturday
