As AESC ramps up new battery manufacturing facilities across the Southeastern United States to meet rising demand from automotive OEM partners, we are expanding our local engineering teams to support smooth plant launches.
The Industrial Engineer will play a critical role in developing efficient production line designs and equipment layouts for the new facilities. You will collaborate closely with project teams and engineering groups across the region and globe to optimize plant floor plans and processes for maximum throughput, yield, and quality.
Leveraging extensive battery production experience, you will conduct engineering analysis to balance equipment capabilities with manufacturing objectives. Your technical contributions will help avoid bottlenecks, reduce downtime, and ensure smooth production ramps.
As a hands-on leader, you will help coordinate the on-site engineering organization during equipment installation, integration, testing, and process validation. This position will oversee critical launch activities including mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, and software configuration required to start up new lines.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Key point of contact between global and U.S. teams, facilitating clear communication.
- Collaborate with the local project team to optimize equipment layout for maximum efficiency. (i.e., production volume capacity planning, labor planning, CAD layout management)
- Optimize battery production line layouts and workflows.
- Develop headcount plans and optimize staffing levels for production needs.
- Responsible for modeling and simulation of battery production systems.
- Implement lean manufacturing and six sigma principles to improve plant design.
- Manage equipment logistics planning with Chinese vendors, from shipping through installation.
- Support and plan equipment integration with the facility team.
- Design and implement optimal material logistics within the plant, including line-side rack locations and 5S organization standards.
- Oversee production ramp up and provide ongoing monitoring.
- Analyze and improve material flows to minimize waste and scrap.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and battery recycling processes.
MIMINUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of Industrial Engineering experience, expert knowledge of plant production and operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field and experience required.
- Experienced in AutoCAD, BIM 360 (or similar), Plant simulation software (Siemens Plant Simulation or Any Logic to model production flows, or similar), Business software Excel/Word/PowerPoint/MS 360.
- Project management and team leadership skills.
- Broad understanding of all aspects of industrial facility design from establishing design input data for Facility MEP to Production equipment, energy power consumption estimates.
PREFERED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance for battery production
- Experience with battery testing equipment and quality control processes
- Knowledge of battery production processes - cell assembly, electrode, winding, stacking, etc.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese
Base Location: Middle TN
Travel: Initial training up to 3 months China (training and project knowledge ramp up), up to 30% within region (US) for project support.
