QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a major area of concentration in Recreation, Creative Arts Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Art Education, Psychology, or Music Therapy. 2-3 years’ experience in recreation and/or management experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Establishes, coordinates and directs a comprehensive Therapeutic Recreation Programs for a specific area in the organization. Develops a program which relates to the physical, psychological, social, intellectual, cultural and spiritual needs of each resident. Establishes, coordinates and documents all assessments, review, plans and progress notes pertaining to activity programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS
- Reviews Plan of Care as needed for their accuracy and accountability of staff.
- Reviews progress notes as needed for tardiness and Accuracy of Treatment outcome.
- Designs and implement a comprehensive Therapeutic Program of activities for the
- Residents, accommodating their needs, abilities and interest.
- Adheres to the written objectives, standards of practice, policies and procedures and an organizational plan for the Therapeutic Recreation department and all Therapeutic Recreation personnel being supervised.
- Approves supply requisitions prepared by the Program Assistant.
- Prepares and posts a written monthly activities schedule for their area.
- Maintains an on-going community resources file containing: a) volunteer sources; b) community organization; c) entertainment and film sources; d) educational facilities dealing with disciplines in gerontology and therapeutic recreation.
- Participates in the Patient Care and Ethics, Evaluation and Infection Control Meetings.
Maintains working relationship with Administration through conferences, written memoranda and other methods of exchanging information.
- Coordinates, monitors and documents, if necessary, all assessments timely and appropriately.
