Overview:

The Office of the Provost is responsible for setting and guiding institutional and budgetary priorities that advance the University’s academic mission. Together with deans and senior administrators, the Provost directs and supports the partnerships, collaborations, and planning initiatives on four Massachusetts campuses and the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France and the surrounding region. This team champions and integrates educational and research activities across the university and ensures programs are of the highest quality by working closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and students. The Office of the Provost oversees the university’s education, research, faculty affairs, innovation, and diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility operations.

This is an exciting time to join Tufts University in the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence (OIIE) Formerly the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), the Office debuted its new branding, as well as its goals and vision with the Tufts community on October 26th. Under the leadership of Monroe France, the inaugural Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence, the Office provides strategic vision and oversight for diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility across the university.

What You'll Do:

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence, the Inclusive Learning and Development Program Director leads the development of inclusive training, learning program offerings and resources for the university. The Program Director develops a university-wide strategy and framework for DEIJA* (diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and access) training and inclusive leadership Development Programs for all campus stakeholders, developing curriculum, and assessment of learning programs.

  • DEIJA-related areas for awareness, knowledge, and skills training include, but are not limited to anti-racism/racial equity, disability/ableism, LGBTQ+, gender and sexuality, effective allyship, spirituality/religion, economic justice, global perspectives

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and leads the university-wide strategy for inclusive excellence training, anti-bias, and inclusive leadership Development Programs
  • Supports the development of an Inclusive Learning and Development strategy within the Provost office
  • Partners with Assistant/Associate Deans for Diversity Inclusion (ADDIs) and other campus stakeholders (e.g., HR, Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching [CELT], Faculty Development, Student Life) to deliver inclusive excellence and DEIJA-related (diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and access) training programs across the university
  • Creates and leads inclusive excellence cohort Learning and certificate programs
  • Develops DEIJ related and inclusive excellence curriculum, resources and programs for students, staff, faculty, and alumni communities
  • Leads the assessment strategy and implementation of Inclusive Learning initiatives and programs
  • Partners with the leader for inclusive and restorative dialogues to develop and lead a training of trainers and ambassador programs to advance inclusive excellence across campus
  • Serves on and chairs university-wide committees focused on Inclusive Learning and training education
  • Supervises a full time employee, the Senior Associate Director for Inclusive Faculty Engagement
What We're Looking For:

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of a master’s degree in higher education, diversity and inclusion, teaching, and learning, and/or other related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing DEIJA-related Learning and educational materials and facilitating Inclusive Learning sessions for students, staff, and faculty audiences in higher education
  • Minimum of 5 years of Scholar/practitioner experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in higher education or related field
  • Experience with diversity and inclusion counseling
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Strong skills and experience in program management, assessment and research
  • Strong curriculum development skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree
  • 7+ years of professional experience
  • Previous role in training and education; classroom instruction; experience leading certificate and leadership
