The Job at a Glance

Parts Town is expanding their footprint and building a new state-of-the-art Distribution Center. We are looking for a Director of Inbound Distribution that can learn our from our current operations and build a new team and new inbound processes. This role will be responsible for all things inbound from unloading and staging parcel and LTL shipments, receiving product, pack upon receipt, and put away operations. The ideal candidate for this position will have both passion and experience managing operational teams. They love to build and improve upon processes. They understand analytics and reporting and can articulate what they are looking for in data to glean insights into their operations. Key job functions include coaching and developing a front-line supervisor team, maximizing productivity and quality through process improvement, and ensuring employee safety on a daily basis. As the Inbound Distribution Center Manager, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the receipt of inbound shipments, the organization of incoming goods, and ensuring timely and accurate processing including kitting and put away of inventory. In addition, the Inbound Distribution Center Manager will be responsible for maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

A Typical Day

• Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching and feedback to enhance individual and team performance for both individual contributors and supervisors
• Foster a culture of teamwork that upholds our core values
• Oversee the daily incoming shipments, inbound material handling, kitting/prepack, and put away operations
• Coordinate with supervisors and Talent to see that all employees are provided adequate training and resources needed to succeed in every role
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure accuracy and integrity of received inventory
• Develop and implement efficient inbound processes to minimize delays and uphold dock-to-stock commitments and other KPIs
• Collaborate with managers, supervisors, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Analytics teams on process improvement, unique solutions, and opportunities to drive growth, efficiency, and improved quality
• Work with analytics and continuous improvement teams on continual process improvement
• Manage staffing levels and scheduling that balance productivity and cycle time goals
• Collaborate with purchasing and customer service teams

• You’re proficient in MS Office including MS Excel
• Experience leading and building teams in an operations environment
• You have 7+ years of experience in high volume Distribution Center (bonus points if you worked in an automated DC) 
• You have a minimum of 4 years in a manager or higher role along with a backpack of knowledge (a degree) in Operations, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management Experience
• Ability to stand and walk on concrete surfaces
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of employees and upper management and are fluent in English
