Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and implement operational policies and diverse activities, estimating costs for future program needs.
  • Organize, conduct, and evaluate staff training sessions, ensuring adherence to child-to-staff ratios.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring the facility and staff meet all licensing requirements.
  • Manage children's enrollment records, health data, and program registration, maintaining accurate files and waiting lists.
  • Prepare and submit reports to Child Protection Services and oversee meal counts for compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with parents regularly to discuss their children's development and progress.
  • Conduct marketing campaigns, manage public relations, and oversee supply and equipment orders.
  • Organize and supervise early childhood programs and off-campus activities while resolving staff issues promptly.
  • Maintain confidential client files, monitor children's behavior, and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility, providing nutritious meals and a variety of engaging activities.
  • Develop daily activity plans, enforce safety regulations, and communicate effectively with children and parents.
  • Safeguard children's development and safety in line with federal, state, and facility policies.
  • Stay updated on and implement relevant regulations, policies, and procedures while performing any additional assigned duties.

  • Cultivate strong, effective relationships with staff, residents, and families, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a safe, inclusive space.
  • Communicate proficiently, both orally and in writing, while efficiently managing tasks, adapting to changing demands, and upholding facility policies and procedures.

Work Contacts
Regular contacts with associate personnel, children, children’s family members, residents and visitors.

Working Conditions

  • Engage in safe and meticulous work with chemicals and cleaning agents, prioritizing a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Perform physical tasks, occasionally lifting 50 pounds or more unassisted, while maintaining a safe and healthy space for children.
  • Navigate a childcare setting that may involve exposure to biological elements, such as bodily fluids and childhood diseases, and odors related to toileting and illness.
  • Adapt to regular exposure to loud noises and a diverse range of childhood conditions within the childcare environment.
  • Utilize protective gear, including gloves, when necessary, ensuring safety while undertaking various physical activities like standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Maintain keen visual and aural acuity, required to ensure accuracy and quality in assigned tasks, including communicating effectively with young children.
  • Embrace a dynamic workload with potential interruptions, demonstrating adaptability and efficiency in managing tasks effectively.

Note: This role is designated as safety-sensitive in accordance with A.R.S. 23-493 regulations.

Required Education and Experience

  • 21 years of age or older
  • At least 24 months of child care experience, a high school or high school equivalency diploma and:
    • Six credit hours or more in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university or at least 60 actual hours of instruction, provided in conferences, seminars, lectures, or workshops in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field and an additional 12 hours of instruction, provided in conferences, seminars, lectures or workshops in the area of program administration, planning, development, or management; or
  • At least 18 months of child care experience and:
    • An N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential; or
    • At least 24 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field; or
  • At least six months of child care experience and an associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field; or
  • At least three months of child care experience and a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field.

Special Requirements

  • Attend mandatory meetings and continuing education classes.
  • Obtain/maintain Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Card at employee’s expense.
  • Obtain/maintain CPR certification specific to infants and children.
  • Obtain/maintain first aid certification specific to infants and children.
  • Complete annual Tuberculosis Testing.
  • Complete required 18 hours of annual training.
  • Attend annual CACFP training program.
  • Obtain/maintain valid Food Handlers Card.
  • Mandated federal, state, and local communicable disease testing as required.
