Provide leadership for their portion of the Agency’s Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative whose mission is to strengthen, expand and integrate a comprehensive system of community- based, culturally competent behavioral health and complementary services for children with serious emotional and behavioral health needs along with their families. She/he is accountable to the Licensed Senior Clinician. The behavior management therapist will develop specific behavioral objectives and interventions that are designed to diminish, extinguish, or improve specific behaviors related to the youth’s behavioral health condition(s) and which are incorporated into the behavior plan ad the risk management/safety plan. Behavior Management/Therapist maintains a caseload of 8 families, and will liaises with the Care Coordinator, Family Partners and other team members to achieve program objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete functional behavioral assessment inclusive of the CANS
- Provides in-home and in-community behavioral observations
- Completes a written behavioral assessment report
- Develops an individualized focused behavior plan in collaboration with the family and the child.
- Responsible for the supervision and coordination of interventions
- Participates in the development of CPT and ICP
- Collaborates with other necessary individuals the youth and family may have contact with, such as Bureau Case Managers, Probation Officers, Judges, District Attorneys, Attorneys, Teachers, Physicians, etc. Will attend IEP meetings, CPT meetings and any other meeting necessary to achieve the stated goals and objectives
Minimum Qualifications
- Behavior Management Therapist must possess a clinical Master Degree with additional hours of coursework and training in conducting functional behavioral assessments and selecting, implementing, and evaluating intervention strategies.
- Two years relevant experience providing direct services to youth and families who require behavior management to address mental health needs.
- Supervised experience consulting behavioral assessments and designing, implementing and monitoring behavior analysis program for individuals.
- Experience navigating any of the child/family-serving systems and advocating for family members who are involved in the behavioral health system
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative, analytical and decisive in problem solving.
- Demonstrated communications, administrative and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community agencies: School Dept., DCF, DYS, Juvenile Court, etc.
- Must have a driver’s license and availability of vehicle to support Program needs.
