Job description

The Department of Mental Health's Southeast Area & Brockton Multi Service Center (BMSC)  is seeking an experienced Mentally Ill/Problematic Sexual Behavior (MIPSB) Outpatient Clinician. The identified candidate will be responsible for providing MIPSB clinical services to clients referred to the MIPSB clinic for the DMH Southeast Area. Clinical services include but are not limited to completion of psychosocial and MIPSB assessments, individual and group therapy, consultations, and training.  The identified candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive assessment services to adults living in the community in a variety of settings. The MIPSB Clinician/Licensed Practitioner the Healing Arts (LPHA) is responsible for leading trauma informed, person centered assessments & treatment planning activities, as well as ensuring interventions utilize evidence-based interventions & best practices. Will provide face-to-face services to assigned persons in a variety of settings and areas of focus will include engagement, assessment & treatment planning, risk mitigation, skill building, support through life & care transitions, health monitoring, and integration with care coordination entities. 

 

Please Note:

This position is 40 hours per week on the Day shift 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Days off: Saturday and Sunday 

The work location is primarily Brockton Multi Service Center 165 Quincy Street Brockton MA 02302 and Plymouth Outpatient Clinic 38 Industrial Park Road Plymouth MA 02360, this position will support all sites in the Southeast Area, as needed. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities (these are not all inclusive):

  • Provides MIPSB treatment (including individual, group and family) to referred DMH clients for the Southeast Area.
  • Participates in risk assessments that delineate risk factors and risk management strategies for DMH Southeast Area clients with mental illness and Problematic Sexual Behavior.
  • Provides consultations and in-service trainings to other outpatient providers, treatment teams, and vendors to better address and mitigate clients' risks and treatment needs.
  • Participates in MIPSB administrative/clinical meetings by coming prepared to present psychosocial histories, mental status, diagnosis, treatment provided and the treatment planned for assigned cases.
  • Assesses and responds to crisis and emergency situations by intervening immediately with appropriate clinical treatment or referral(s).
  • Assumes responsibility for clinical record documentation requirements by recording in the record in a thorough and timely manner so that other providers are aware of treatment provided and so that the medical record is in compliance with agency standards.
  • Ensures that all billing documents and supporting documentation are completed in a timely manner.
  • Involves all clients, family members and other identified natural support(s) in the process of treatment planning and ensures that plans are agreed upon in accordance with program timeframes and requirements.
  • Provides consultation and/or development of crisis and safety plans for assigned clients.
  • Serves on committees and becomes involved in task force assignments to help improve service delivery with SEA/BMSC.
  • Provides transportation for consumers by using a state vehicle or in private vehicle after discussion and approval from supervisor.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with people with chronic mental illness.

Preference working with MIPSB and/or other high-risk populations.

Bi-lingual preferred.

 

BMSC Mission Statement:

The Brockton Multi Service Center provides comprehensive services to Mentally Ill adults and children.  Programs include Case Management, Adult Community Clinical Services program and a Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) team.  The Brockton Multi Service Center is a Joint Commission certified facility. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: 
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: 
At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work.  
SUBSTITUTIONS: 
 -  A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.  
-  One year of education equals 30 semester hours.  Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.  
REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
A Master's or higher degree in social work is required. 
LICENSES: 
-  Licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.  
-  Based on assignment, travel may be required.  Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
